every child every day matters Wilkinsburg school district is it place where I've had the opportunity to watch students grow and Thrive for over a decade we've reimagine education with a focus on Hands-On learning to support students throughout their educational Journey preparing them for life beyond our district School District delivers excellent public education serving the Wilkinsburg area the district has the highest academic standards with two schools Kelly Primary School serving students in pre-k through for great and Turner Intermediate School grade 2 through 6 Kelly primary is the unique School filled with Hands-On learning we're at the Caterers teeth to improve dexterity between information and problems all our classrooms are vibrant with dedicated teachers who created laughing how a child begins their educational journey is just as important as how we helped prepare them for Life After Wilkinsburg our pre-k program is free to all families who reside in Wilkinsburg surrounding area for young children ages 3 through 5 busing is available for students for this full day program our curriculum prepares them for kindergarten and Beyond focusing on their development academically and socially and assessing their prom in a small classroom Turner intermediate is a newly renovated school with state-of-the-art tool including smartdesk non-traditional learning spaces that help students explore their creativity and comfortable spaces about the classroom and learn a different area starting in pre-k through sixth grade all students take Spanish weekly Library art music and gym are all integrated with in the curriculum and many students in grade 4 6 Player band instrument Wilkinsburg School District also offers our Virtual Academy and online learning platform that consist of engaging virtual learning these courses aligned with Wilkinsburg School District standards curriculum there for students receive the same credit for classes as they would with in-person learning students receive daily life instruction from our highly-qualified Wilkinsburg school district teachers our curriculum is nimble teachers are flexible a very unique offering is our math and literacy coaches that support our teachers in the classroom and work with two to three students at a time these sessions help students in every grade level when they may be especially struggle or even when students are excelling and need extra opportunities to grow beyond the standard curriculum as a district we provide a free after-school program from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. that provide both a meal and transportation home students have access to homework assistant tutoring time to play and be active and engaging activities this program extends the school day to support both our families and their student this is available at both buildings and is open to any time K through 5th grade teachers within the district make a true impact on The Learning Experience for each student class sizes are intentionally small with the ratio of 15 students to 1 educator our teachers are extremely deadly it's at their own educational Journey many have their master's degree and they are just as dedicated to our community with several working in the district for more than 15 years working for a school district is the place where students learn grow and succeed we welcome all families and their students to be part of our school community that supports self aware learner and prepares them to be productive members of society
